Bird photography, especially wild bird photography, is considered challenging. The most celebrated technical challenge in bird photography is of capturing crisp images of birds in flight. While the static portrait shots of birds at rest are pleasing aesthetically, there is also a dynamic power of a well-executed flight shot. The avifauna of Bangladesh includes a total of 466 species where 35 species are globally threatened.
The photographs here are winning shots from a contest whose exhibition was held at the Shilpakala Academy from March 23-25. The exhibition titled Bangladeshi Birds in Frames was organised by Birds Club of Bogra in collaboration with NWAPCO (National Wildlife Photography Competition). The initiative was taken to let the people of the country know more about the numerous species of birds in our country.
